Ada E. Roush, 90, of Dover, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, in the New Dawn Retirement Community.
Born Jul. 29, 1913, in Bidwell, Gallia County, she was a daughter of the late Emmet J. and Lydia Hughes Holter. Ada was a graduate of Bidwell-Porter High School, and attended Rio Grande College. She was a homemaker who was fond of gardening and cooking. Ada especially enjoyed the flowers and apple and cherry trees that grew around her former home on Elm Street. She was also a seamstress and a wonderful quilter, more often than not giving away the quilts that she made.
Ada was a former member of the First Baptist Church, New Philadelphia, and was presently a member of the Dover Alliance Church. She taught Sunday school for many years, and also held meetings of “The Good News Club” in her home. Additionally, Ada was a member of Brandywine Grange 1391.
Survivors include a sister, Norma Carter of Jasonville, IN; a brother, Gilbert Holter of Dover; half-brother, David (Elaine) Holter of Columbus; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, Bruce O. Roush, in 1987.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Aug. 25, at 1 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, 246 East High Ave., New Philadelphia, with Pastor Timothy J. Steiner officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal, there will be a meal in the Dover Alliance Church, 228 East Third St., Dover.
