Ada M. Border

Ada M. Border, age 89, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012, in Hennis Care Centre, Dover, after battling cancer.

Born February 21, 1923, at Dover Township, Tuscarawas County, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Mary Yackey Reed. Ada graduated from Dover High School in 1941, and later was married to Kenneth Border. She was employed for fourteen years by Union Hospital in the housekeeping staff, from which she retired.

Ada attended the First Church of the Nazarene at New Philadelphia. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother - she very much enjoyed being with and doing things for her family. Additionally, Ada liked tending the flowers around her home, as well as researching her family's genealogy.

Survivors include her two daughters, Susan (Frank) Davis of Perry, Ohio, and Karen Ehrhart of New Philadelphia; her step-daughter, Janet Weyandt of Akron; her nine grandchildren; her several great-grandchildren; her brother, Donald (Peg) Reed of Gainesville, Florida; and her nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Ada was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, in 1971; her infant son, Gary Border; and by her brother, Henry Reed.

In keeping with her wishes, Ada will be cremated through the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover. A committal service will be held Saturday, July 7, at 10:30 a.m., in Dover Burial Park; two of Ada's grandsons, Jon and Joel Davis, will officiate.
