Ada Petersheim, 93, of Dover passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012 following a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Charm, Ohio on March 6, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Joe J. and Lizzie Miller. In 1942, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ed Obermiller. Her second husband, William Petersheim, passed away in 1973.
Ada worked at Park Village Retirement Centre for 7 years and was also employed at Cappeldale Dairyland in Dover as well as Dover Station.
To say that Ada was a compassionate woman would be an understatement. Ada was a member of the Winfield United Methodist Church, where she made teddy bears for The Teddy Bear Class for many years.She also enjoyed crocheting.In addition to raising her eight children, she also was involved with the Foster Grandparent Program in New Philadelphia for over 25 years. Many knew her as "Grandma Ada." Visiting with her family and friends was by far her favorite pastime.
She will be sadly missed by her four daughters; Ada Cooper of Peninsula, Ohio, Mary (Bill Sr.) Aul of Strasburg, Betty Tomblin of Dover, Sandra (Jon) Roney of New Philadelphia; two sons, Joe (Sharon) Obermiller of Layton, UT, and John Obermiller of Clearfield, UT; her brother, Calvin Miller of Applecreek; along with 22 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands', Ada is also preceded in death by; two sons, Jerry Obermiller and Steve Petersheim; six sisters, Mary Miller, Nora Miller, Mattie Petersheim, Sarah Burkholder, Katie Hershberger, Betty Miller; her brother, John Miller; her son's in-law, Desmond Cooper, Bill Tomblin Sr.; daughter's in-law, Linda Obermiller, Pat Obermiller; grandchildren, Ed Aul, Donald Dotts Jr., Shelly Obermiller, and Matthew Obermiller.
Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 4-7 pm.Burial will take place at Dover Burial Park.A memorial service will be held at the Church of New Hope in Dover on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 11:00 am with Pastor Dan Legg officiating.
