Ada Virginia Cooper, 90, of Dover, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family early Sunday morning, May 20, 2012 at her daughter's home and went to be with her loving husband and son.
She was born on September 1, 1921 in Moundsville, West Virginia. Ada was the daughter of the late, David Edward and Clara Alzenia (nee Holmes) Blake.
On July 2, 1938 in Proctor, West Virginia; she married the love of her life, Edwin Owen Cooper, whom she celebrated 48 years of marriage, until his death on November 19, 1986.
Ada retired from East Sparta Ceramic Tile Company after more than 25 years of dedication. She previously attended the Church of Christ in New Philadelphia with her sister Evelyn and her mother, Clara. Ada enjoyed attending Dover Football Games and watching the Dover Marching Tornadoes perform. She also loved to sew, bake, and watch Joel Osteen; although, her greatest pride and joy was her family. Ada was also an avid Cleveland Indian's Fan.
Ada will be deeply missed by her one daughter, Barbara J. Keffer of Dover; one daughter-in-law, Barbara A. Cooper of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Jacqueline (Henry) McNutt of Dover, Debbie (Al) Peddicord of Minerva, Diane Cooper of New Philadelphia, and Jeff Springhetti of Dover; six great grandchildren, Tiffany (Jeremy) Barnhart of Dover, Seth (Lindsey) Gasche of Ashland, Jesse (Carrie) Peddicord of Minerva, Lindsay (Lee) Hale of Waynesburg, and Cody and Kayla Morrison of New Philadelphia; four great grandchildren, Gavin, Grant, Ilah, and Cooper; one sister, Wilda Thomas of New Martinsville, West Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ada is preceded in death by a son, William "Bill" Cooper; two sons-in-law, Rudy Springhetti and Delbert "Bud" Keffer Jr.; one brother, Raymond Blake; and three sisters, Letha Mae Burkhart, Ruth Evelyn Johnson, and Erma Howe.
Funeral services celebrating Ada's life will be held, Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Duane Wilbur officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Dover Burial Park. Following the interment a meal and time of fellowship will be prepared for all attendants in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
