Adeline L. (Beitzel) Haas Griffey, 97, of Park Village and a longtime Dover resident died Monday morning, Jan. 30, 2012 in the center following a period of declining health.
Adeline retired from East Sparta Ceramic Tile where she worked for 25 years and was also an employee of the former Bond Shoe Store in downtown Dover.
Born Jan. 4, 1915 in Stone Creek, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emma (Metzger) Beitzel. In addition, she was preceded by her husband, Clarence Haas who died in 1952, a grandson, Dale Smith Jr. along with eight brothers and seven sisters.
Adeline enjoyed crocheting, flower gardening, and enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends. She previously attended the Jerusalem Church and the First Assembly of God Church both in New Philadelphia.
She will be sadly missed by her two children and their families Nancy (Dale) Smith of Dover and Darrell Griffey of North Canton; eight grandchildren Scott (Lori) Smith, Eric (Terri) Smith, Jeff (LaReine) Smith, Gary (Ann) Smith, Cortney, Dane, and Brock Griffey and Stephanie Dunn and thirteen great grandchildren , seven great great grandchildren and another soon to be expected.
A service celebrating Adeline's life will be held Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with Dale Fincher officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband Clarence in the Evergreen Burial Park. A reception will follow in the First Moravian Church in Dover. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-7pm.
