Agustin Eduardo Cantera

Agustin Eduardo Cantera, 40, of Dover passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021 following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born on August 24, 1981 in Toluca, Mexico and was a son of Agustin Cantera of Akron and Maria Elena Alvarez de Cantera of California. In addition to his parents, Agustin is also survived by his wife, Hannah Swiger de Cantera whom he married on April 14, 2018; children, Joshua and Fatima Cantera both of Georgia; brother, Edgar Cantera of California; father and mother-in-law, Mark (Marcia) Swiger of Dover. His large extended family of 6 aunts and 12 uncles, cousins galore all with an Agustin story to share.

Agustin and Hannah traveled, and lived, in many different states throughout their nearly 4-year marriage, most recently in California and Alaska, which was their favorite. While Hannah was doing her job as a Traveling Physical Therapist, Agustin would put his incredible skills to work most recently troubleshooting on a ranch. Hannah counted on his extraordinary packing and organizing skills, though the work he was most proud of was as a machinist; there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. He loved life, and lived every moment to the fullest; with his outgoing personality, he always had an abundance of friends and was one of those guys who never met a stranger. Agustin was also a talented dancer, which is where he met Hannah…on the dance floor. We cannot leave the talking of Agustin without mentioning the joy and creativity that is seen in every aspect of his life (ie his truck). One more thing to mention is his love of sharing his delicious food, a family trait. He is a beloved member of the New Hope Ministries, New Philadelphia.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 29th starting at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor’s Norman and Carole Shetler officiating. The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-7 pm.
