Albert V. “Zuke” Zuchegno, 84, of Dover, Ohio died Friday, August 23, 2002 in the Hennis Care Centre following a brief illness.
He was a retired machinist at the former Shenango Company in Dover where he worked for over 40 years.
Born January 1, 1918 in Dover, he was the son of the late Vincent and Carmella DeNoy Zuchegno.
He was a member of the St. Joseph�(TM)s Catholic Church at Dover, life member of the Dover Moose Lodge, member of the Dover VFW, and enjoyed golfing and bowling.
He was a 1937 graduate of Dover High School where he was a football standout. He continues to hold Dover High School football scoring records of which a couple of records were just recently broken. He also played football for Ohio State University. He served in the US Army Air Corp. during World War II.
Albert was preceded in death by his wife Wilma Waldick Zuchegno who died September 2, 1999. He was also preceded in death by four infant children, two brothers, Tony and Dominic Zuchegno; four sisters, Lucille Zuchegno, Mildred VanCamp, Louise Petricola, and Bettina Zuchegno.
He is survived by his sister, Wilma Zuchegno of New Philadelphia and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 10:30 am in the St. Joseph�(TM)s Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Entombment will be held in the Garden of Peace Mausoleum at Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Tuesday from 6-8 pm.
