Alex Lee Koerber, 76, of Wilmot, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2011 at Cleveland Clinic following an extended illness.

Born on September 25, 1934 in Paden City, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Raymond Arthur and Lessie Opal (Berry) Koerber, Sr. He married the love of his life, Hazel Marie Lashley on August 2, 1958. Marie preceded him in death on February 6, 2001.

He served in the United States Air Force in the 3700th Personnel Processing Squadron, Military Training Wing (ATC).

Alex worked for the former Danner Press in Canton. He later retired after 30 years of service from The Timken Company in Canton, where he was a crane operator.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in East Sparta. Alex was a very devoted and loving husband and father. Before Marie passed away, the couple was rarely seen apart. Together they enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family. Shortly following retirement, he supported Marie with her craft business for many years. He also enjoyed attending his children(TM)s school activities and sporting events. Alex took pleasure in a hobby in genealogy.

He will be sadly missed by his two sons; Jerry Lee Koerber of Nashville, TN, Jeffery Allen (Marcia Ann) Koerber of New Philadelphia; two daughters; Brenda Kay Gee of Dover, Jodi Marie (Douglas Andrew) Casper of Wooster; grandchildren, Shane Michael (Staci) Koerber of Spruce Pine, NC, Jessica Lynn (Chad) Clark of Spruce Pine, NC; Joshuah Allen, Jordan Andrew and Logan Ray Koerber, all of Midvale, Andrew Douglas, Kelley Christine, and Austin Michael Casper all of Wooster; Michael Alexander Koerber of New Philadelphia; step-grandchildren, Nicholas Robert Soma of Dover and Courtney Lynn Soma of New Philadelphia; two great-grandsons, Chance Michael Clark of Spruce Pine, NC and Brayden Allen Koerber of Midvale. He is survived by one sister, Gaynell Lessie Mary Fontana, of Newark, Delaware; his cousin, Carl Evans of Alliance, and Louis Clouse of Massillon, with whom he shared special, lifelong friendships; along with many additional nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In additions to his parents and wife, Alex is preceded in death by his two brothers; Raymond Arthur Koerber II and Ray Donald Koerber; three sisters, Clara Ellen Sillimon, Betty Marie Summers and Peggy Ann Bernhardt.
