Alexander V. Antonelli, 65, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Jun. 13, 2007, in Union Hospital, Dover, following a long illness.
Born, May 9, 1942, in Dover, he was a son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Wise Antonelli. Alex graduated from St. Joseph High School in Dover in 1960. For many years he was a salesman for Banker�(TM)s Advertising and operated the snack-bar at the Dover Flea Market. Alex was a member of Sacred Heart Church, New Philadelphia, along with the V.F.W., AMVETS, the Army-Navy Garrison and Eagles. He was a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and NASCAR.
Survivors include a son, Jerry (wife, Lyn) Brown of Ashburnham, MA; a daughter, Kathy McClain of Lorain; two grandchildren, Cody and Darcy Brown; a sister, Ruth (husband, Louis) Fantin of New Philadelphia; and two nephews, Tony Fantin of New Philadelphia, and Thomas (fiancée, Sarah) Fantin of Fairlawn. Additionally, he is sadly missed by his little dog, Molly, and by his bird, Gray.
In addition to his parents, Alex was preceded in death by his wife of twenty-seven years, Ruth Foster Antonelli, in 2000.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Jun. 16, at 9:30 a.m., in Sacred Heart Church, with Msgr. George J. Schlegel officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Philadelphia. Following the committal, there will be a meal in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover. Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, on Friday (today), Jun. 15, 5 �" 8 p.m. A Christian wake service will begin the calling hours at 5.
