Alfred H. Clay, 81, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, January 12, 2002 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover.
He retired in 1984 from Hercules in Canton after 43 years of services.
Born September 9, 1920 at Dover, he was son of the late Herman & Myrtle Howell Clay.
Alfred was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia and was a 1938 graduate of Dover High School. He served in the Army during World War II and had been a member of the Dover Eagles club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Clay who passed away November 24, 2001.

In addition to his parents and wife, Alfred was preceded in death by: 3 brothers; Jim, Art & Bob Clay, sister; Mary, two step brothers; Harold & Ed Hollingbaugh, stepmother; Marie Clay and grandson Logan Clay.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 16, at 1:30pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Rev. Jim Spencer officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call in the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm.
