Alice Elizabeth Creager, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend died on May 23, 2010 at the Woodland Country Manor nursing facility near Oxford, Ohio after a long illness.
She was born in Columbia, Ohio on January 8, 1913 to Leon and Emma Ogi Feutz. She was married to George Creager, former mayor of Uhrichsville, for 48 years. He preceded her in death in 1980. They were the owners of G & G Wallpaper and Paint Company in Uhrichsville for 27 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann (husband, Charles) Skipper of Oxford; granddaughter, Sherrie Skipper of New York City; two half sisters, Mary Lee Blickensderfer of Dover and Pat Sindlinger of Florida; half brothers, John Feutz of Dover and Bob Feutz of Parral and many nieces and nephews.
Also preceding Alice in death were sisters, Anna Humerickhouse and Hilda Wallick; half sister, Nellie Stein and her dear companion of many years, John Weaver.
As a 50 year member of the First United Methodist Church of Uhrichsville, she served as a Trustee and helped organize the Admore class. She was also a member of the Sorosis Club, Alturist Club, Twin City Bowling League, Uhrichsville Band Mothers and was Worthy Matron of Chapter 349 of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Tuscarawas chapter of AARP and Senior Citizens of Dover and Gnadenhutten.
During WW II she was a regular participant in the famous Dennison, Ohio Railroad Canteen that served food and beverages to thousands of service men during their brief stay.
The family would especially like to thank the family owners of the Hennis Care Centre of Dover and their staff where Alice received loving care for three years and the family owners of the Woodland Country Manor and staff where she again received tender and devoted care for three additional years
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 2:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover with Rev. John Clark officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends can call at the funeral home on hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
