Alice J. Conkle

Alice J. Conkle, 83, of Dover passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Country Club Retirement Center in Dover.

Born in Baltic, Ohio on October 12, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Ruby (Horn) Fox. On November 26, 1949 she married the love of her life, Del D. Conkle, who preceded her in death on July 19, 1995. She is also preceded in death by her niece; Linda, and her sister in-law; Pat.

Alice graduated from Dover High School with the class of 1947. She attended Akron City Hospital School of Nursing where she became a registered nurse. She was a staff nurse for the OB and retired from Union Hospital where she worked for over 38 years. She also taught Lamaze class for several years. During her nursing career, she delivered three generations of babies for many families. She was a member of the American Nurses Association and the First Moravian Church of Dover.

She will be sadly missed by her children; Michael (Michelle) Conkle of Massillon, Timothy (Jenny) Conkle of Dover, and Daniel (Sally) Conkle of Dover; three grandsons, Alexander and Nathaniel Conkle both of Dover, Jon Conkle of Massillon; a granddaughter, Amanda Conkle; two great grandchildren, Caylee and Rylee Conkle of Dover; brother, Thomas Fox of Westlake; and her niece, Laura Fox of Michigan.

A celebration of Alice's life will be held at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 10:00 am with Pastor John Wallace officiating. Interment will take place at Dover Burial Park. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served at the First Moravian Church in Dover. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday, June 2, 2014 from 5-8pm.
