Alice N. "Ali" Slater

Alice N. “Ali” Slater, 71, of Strasburg, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at The Inn at Northwood Village in Dover.

Ali was born on May 19, 1950, in Millersburg. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret “Nadine” (Welling) Pretzeus. She graduated from Garaway High School. Ali was a homemaker but worked various jobs throughout the year.

On March 4, 1984, she married David K. Slater, who preceded her in death on October 21, 2021. She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia. Ali loved cooking, collecting books, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She leaves behind her children; Michele (Andrew) Rennicker of Dover, Matthew (Deloris) Burris of Quaker City, seven grandchildren, Brianna (Greg) Regoli, Alexis Burris, Lauren Rennicker, Tori Burris, Nicolas Burris, Emma Rennicker, and Natalie Rennicker; along with a great-grandson, Sutton Regoli; two brothers, Forrest (Joanne “Jo”) Pretzeus of Colorado, Robert Pretzeus of Sugarcreek; and her sister-in-law, Loretta Pretzeus of Concord Township.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Pretzeus, and her sister-in-law, Rebecca “Becky” Pretzeus.

Cremation has been entrusted with the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes & Crematory in Dover. A memorial service will take place at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 11:00 am. Friends are invited to gather from 10:30-11:00 am on Friday.
