Allen G. "Doc" Kinsey, 82, of New Philadelphia died Sunday, January 11, 2015 in the Community Hospice House.
Born September 27, 1932 in New Philadelphia he was a son of the late Ernest and Martha Greer Kinsey. Doc was also preceded in death by his wife, Arleen Kinsey on October 6, 1995 and sister, Doris Gantley.
He was a co-owner of Clum Tire Service with his cousin, Clarence Clum for many years and retired as a manager from OIS Tire in Midvale. Following his retirement, he was employed part-time with Citizens Bank as a courier. Doc's passion was racing; his career with stock car racing took him from the Dover Fairgrounds, Strasburg and Midvale Speedways to driving his #21 in NASCAR's ARCA Division at Daytona Beach, Talladega and other NASCAR tracks. When he retired as a driver, he owned and built race cars for other younger drivers including, Delmar Clark. Doc was inducted into the S-K Tools ARCA Mechanics Hall of Fame in 1979. He was also an Army veteran.
He is survived by his long-time companion, Donna Phillips of New Philadelphia; sister, Elizabeth Salmon of Canton; sisters in law, Mary Durbin and Donna Booth both of Tuscarawas and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 16 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at New Philadelphia with Rev. Brian Flood officiating. Following the service, a luncheon will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday.
