Allen T. Hicks, 97, of Dover, went to be with the Lord after a period of declining health.
He was born in Uhrichsville on May 1, 1925, the son of the late Thomas and Celestine Hicks.
In 1945, he married the late Eva May Locker, who died in 1973. His children are; Lola (Larry) McMillen of New Philadelphia, Tom (Judy) Hicks of North Carolina, and Carol (John) Aubihl of Tuscarawas, and step-son, Paul (Maryann) Roberts of Australia.
Allen, a former Dover resident for most of his life, married the former Doreen Lawley Roberts for 47 years. Doreen passed away November 1, 2021.
He had six grandchildren and three step-grandchildren in Australia, and several great-grandchildren.
Allen was a loyal member of the Faith United Methodist for over 74 years. He had been retired following 40 years at Timken Research. Allen was a veteran from WWII, stationed in Alaska as a Mess Sargeant, and served in the Alaskan Theater.
Allen enjoyed working in his garage and taking care of his lawn. He was very mechanically inclined.
He was also survived by his sister, Bonnie Ingland, and four brothers and sisters are deceased.
Cremation has been entrusted with the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory of Dover. A graveside service for both Allen and Doreen will take place at Dover Burial Park on October 8, 2022 at 11:00 am with Pastor Shelly Nordine officiating.
