Alma E. Rufener

Alma E. Rufener, 86, of Dover, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Friday, July 19, 2002 in the Hennis Care Center at Dover.

Born November 14, 1915 near Sardis, Monroe County, Ohio, she was daughter of the late Everett & Ella Suter Winkler. In addition to her birth-parents, Alma was also preceded in death by her step-father, Wesley Lude.

She was a longtime member of the St. Paul�(TM)s United Church of Christ at Ruslin Hills where she was active in the Women�(TM)s Guild and the weekly quilting group. She enjoyed activities with the Tuscarawas County Senior Center, loved cooking for family gatherings, making quilts for each of her children and grandchildren, and spending time in her garden.

Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin R. Rufener, who died May 30, 1985.

Survivors include: two sons; Paul & Maxine Rufener and Carl & Sandie Rufener of Dover, three daughters; Irene & James Parker of New Phila., Doris & Jay Flaherty of Massillon, and Louise and John Schott of Navarre, a sister, Mildred Frinkley of Kent, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 22, at 1:00pm in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Rev. C. Edwin Houk officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 5-8pm.
