Alma G. George, 97, of Strasburg died Sunday, December 29, 2002 at Park Village Health Care Center following a brief illness.
She worked as a foster grandparent at St. John�(TM)s Villa in Carrollton for ten years.
Born September 26, 1905 in New Philadelphia she was a daughter of the late William and Ella Metzger Cook.
She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg and the New Philadelphia Eastern Star. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd George, who died in 1960.
She is survived by a son: Bill (Donna) George of Strasburg
Daughter: Zoa Torgler of New Philadelphia
Three grandchildren: Karen (Sam) Dunfee
Ellen (Steve) Stewart
Kelly (Dave) Henry
Three great grandchildren: Ryan and Sara Stewart
Brennen Dunfee
One great great grandson: Jayden Dunfee
She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Byron and Robert Cook
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2003 at 11:00 am in the St. John United Church of Christ at Strasburg with Rev. Gerald Scheussler officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Friends can call at the church one hour prior to services on Friday. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
