Alma P. Zeigler

Alma P. Zeigler, 78, of Strasburg died Monday, September 24, 2007 at Akron General Medical Center due to complications from a stroke she suffered on Saturday evening.

Born August 7, 1929 in Allentown, New Jersey she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Pearl Woodward Rockhill.

She retired from G.R. Zeigler Trucking at Strasburg where she served as the Secretary- Treasurer for many years.

She was a 1947 graduate of Strasburg High School and a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg where she served the church in many different capacities throughout the years. She was also a member of the Union Country Club and the Atwood Yacht Club. Alma enjoyed playing cards, especially with friends in her card club and she also loved taking care of her favorite cat, Toby. But the greatest joy she had in life, was being with her great grandson Hunter. Whether it was going to his sporting events, or as grandmothers do, buying him whatever he wanted she always cherished those moments with him.

A wonderful wife, mother and grandmother Alma will be sadly missed by her husband Gordon R. Zeigler with whom she celebrated 57 years of marriage on August 26, 2007; son, Rick (Denise) Zeigler; granddaughter, Heather (Scott) Finley and great grandson, Hunter Finley all of Strasburg.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at 11:00 am in the St. John United Church of Christ at Strasburg with Rev. Gary Friend officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends can call at the church on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory are handling the arrangements.
