Almeda M. Haueter, 101, of the New Dawn Health Care Center and formerly of W. 1st St., Strasburg, Ohio died Tuesday evening, February 15, 2000 following a bout with influenza.
Born January 11, 1899 in Bolivar, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late John and Malinda Bixler Breniser. Her parents owned a farm which they homesteaded between Strasburg and Bolivar.
Almeda lived a long and useful life dedicated to the service of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to others. She was an active member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church and was a Sunday schoolteacher for over 40 years. She also conducted Bible classes for children at the Haueter family farm south of Navarre. Following retirement, she continued the ministry at home in Navarre village.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland A. Haueter who died February 24, 1973.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law Ruth and Jack Miller of Dover and her son, Paul R. Haueter of Navarre. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Beatrice Matheson and her brother, Lester Breniser.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 19, 2000 at 2:00 PM in the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven Court officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Strasburg on Friday from 4-6 PM and at the church Saturday from 1-2 PM.
