Alvin “Gene” Archinal, 76, of St. Clairsville died Saturday, August 31, 2002 at the Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling following an extended illness.
He retired from B&O (CSX) Railroad after 35 years of service
Born July 10, 1926 in Dover he as a son of the late Charles and Bertha Wiandt Archinal.
He was an Army veteran of WW II and was a member of St. Clairsville American Legion and the Uhrichsville Moose. In his spare time he enjoyed working crossword puzzles with his wife.
Alvin was preceded in death by his wife Karin Weise Archinal, who died on August 15, 2002. They would have celebrated 54 years of marriage on August 20 2002.
He is survived by two daughters: Nancy (Dan) Jinks of Gnadenhutten
Sigrid (Charles) Miller of Gnadenhutten
Three granddaughters: Heidi (Michael) Palerno of Columbus
Wendy (Roger) Rostad of Gnadenhutten
Kimberly (Randy) Spallinger of Bluffton, Ohio
Three grandsons: Freeman (April) Yant of Gnadenhutten
Buddy Yant of Columbus
Chris Miller of Gnadenhutten
Brother: Norman (Peggy) Taylor of Painesville
Three sisters: Gladys Hollingsworth of Canton
Thelma Jenkins of Plymouth, Michigan
Bernadine Young of New Mexico
7 great grandchildren
He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Donald and Dale Archinal
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at 1:00 pm in the Gnadenhutten Clay Union Cemetery with Rev. James Borton officiating. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover on Wednesday from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm.
