Alvin D. Manning

Alvin Dean Manning, age 58, of Portsmouth, Virginia passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

Alvin was preceeded in death by his parents, Claude “Joe” & Georgia Manning; his stepmother, Judith Manning; his brothers, Michael Johnson, John Johnson, Dennis Johnson, and two wives Sonia Manning and Denetta Manning.

Alvin is survived by his sisters, Darlynn Johnson, Honey Walker; brother, Jody Manning; stepsisters, Patty Davis and Wendy Daley. He is also survived by stepchildren, Pedro & Cerina Raphael, and his grandchildren.

Alvin was retired from the United States Navy after having served 20-plus years. He loved playing Bingo and the interactions he had with fellow players. Like his father, Alvin was an avid Star Trek fan.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 13th at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor David Wing officiating. Interment will be in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at 10175 Rawiga Rd., Rittman, OH 44270  . The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
