Alvin “Biff” Schneider, 96, a well known carpenter and builder died on
Saturday, November 18, 2006 at Park Village Health Care Center.
Born May 9, 1910 at Dover he was a son of the late Adam and Lena Arend
Schneider.
He was a member of St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ in Dover and was a
1929 graduate of Dover High School. Biff was a life resident of Dover and
an avid tennis player, having courts at his parent�(TM)s home and having
played in many tournaments around the state. He received a “Tennis
Plaque” as he and four other members were inducted into the Tuscarawas
County Tennis Hall of Fame in September 1991.
He served his country during WW II in the Navy having served in the
Asiatic Pacific, Philippines and Australia. He was aboard the USS Samar
Repair Ship and the USS Achilles. He also worked as a carpenter at a
mobile hospital unit.
He is survived by three daughters, Carol Cull of Dover, Marjorie (Terry)
Jensen of Chula Vista, California and Susan (Joe) Domer of Fishers,
Indiana; six grandchildren, Brian Cull, Melinda Cull, Jason Jensen, Karen
Domer, Kenneth and Kevin Domer; one great granddaughter, Sarah Cull.
Biff was preceded in death by his wife Ruth E. Schneider who died on May 6, 2004. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Brent Cull; sister, Mabel
Moore; two brothers, Walter and Harold “Snitz” Schneider; step sister,
Erma Judy.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at 11:00 am in
the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover with Rev. Michael
Lowry officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends
can call at the funeral home on Monday from 7-9 pm. Those wishing to
