Alvin William "Bill" Horn, age 96, of Hudson, Wisconsin, formerly of Norco-Corona, California, and a native of Dover, passed away peacefully in the Christian Community Home at Hudson on Sunday, February 21, 2016.
Born August 22, 1919, at Dover, he was a son of the late Alvin and Lillian Hisrich Horn. Bill graduated from Dover High School in 1937 and went on to serve honorably as an officer with the United States Navy during the Second World War he was a true patriot. Bill married the former Dorothy "Dottie" Moser in 1943, and the couple shared seventy-one years of marriage prior to Dottie's passing in 2014.
Bill earned his bachelor's degree from High Point College at North Carolina, and completed graduate work at Ohio State University. He became a chemical engineer, and certainly one of the highlights of his career was to work in the space program at Cape Canaveral, contributing to the United States' entry into space exploration.
Among Bill's favorite pastimes were riding and showing his beloved horse, Shadow, watching Ohio State football, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son, Alvin "Bill" Horn; his daughters, Vicki Mjanger-Segelstrom and Jacki Peterson; and his brother, Rev. Daniel Horn.
