Amelia Ann Moran, 72, of New Philadelphia died in her home Sunday, February 9, 2014 lovingly surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer.
Amelia was born January 1942 in Dover, daughter of the late Virgil and Marguerite (Roth) Emig.
Amelia will be remembered as an outstanding local seamstress.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover where she was active in the Heart of Mary Bible Study Group. She was a member of the Dover Moose Women's Auxiliary having served as Past President. She was also a member of the New Philadelphia VFW, AMVETS, and Weight-Be-Gone at the St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover. She was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School. Amelia loved children and over the years enjoyed babysitting.
On April 3, 1958, Amelia married the love of her life, George Moran with whom she would have celebrated 56 years of marriage. She will also be sadly missed by her family including three children, Pattie (Tom) Stephens of Dover, Linda (Scott) Riffle of Baltic, and Andy (Lauren) Moran of Dover; grandchildren, Danielle (Mike) Corrigan of Chicago, Ill, Mookie Stephens of Lakewood, Denise Stephens of Salt Lake City, UT, Jason Moran of Dover, Bill (Maggi) Moran of Sugarcreek, Marissa (Zach) Sprowl of Dundee and Amalia Moran of Dover; great grandchildren, Matt, Pat, and Jaeden Moran, Theo Sprowl, and Carter Corrigan; a brother, Jack (Lois) Emig of Winter Park, FL; and a sister in law, Dorthea Lang of Strasburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 beginning at 10:30am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield and Fr. William Arnold officiating. A reception will follow the mass in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Cremation will take place following the mass. Friends will be received Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 from 4-7pm. Christian Wake services will begin Tuesday at 7pm.
