Andrew John Oravec, 86, of Navarre, died Saturday, November 1, 2003 in the New Dawn Retirement Community.
He was a lifelong farmer and had also worked as a carpenter for the former Tyson Roller Bearing Company of Canton.
Born July 29, 1917 at Farrell, PA, he was son of the late Max & Anna Futey Oravetz.
He was a member of the St. Therese Catholic Church at Brewster and enjoyed helping with Fish Fry events. Andrew loved being outdoors and working on the farm. He was great with his hands and could fix just about anything.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary, who passed away on June 19, 1994.
Survivors include: three children; Barb (Merle) Arney of Beach City, Sandra Heuning of New York and John (Elaine) Oravec of Tennessee, six grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Andrew was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, November 5, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Therese Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Kaylor officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Clement Church Cemetery at Navarre.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover where a prayer service will be held at 3:45 p.m.
To honor his memory, the family suggests memorial contribution be made to St. Therese Catholic Church, 345 S. Wabash St., Brewster, 44613.
