Anna M. West

Anna M. West, 87, of Strasburg, Ohio died Wednesday morning, June 17, 2015 in her home following a period of declining health.

She retired in 1990 as cashier of the Union Hospital Dietary Department where she worked for 20 years.

Born Sept. 28, 1927 in Pennsboro, West Virginia, the daughter of the late J. Emery and Olive (Elder) Cottrill.

Anna was a longtime member of the Bolivar Wesleyan Church where she and her husband headed up and were members of the Best Years Senior Group Fellowship. Anna also was a member of the Women's Society and served the church in various capacities and volunteered with the Vacation Bible School. She was also a member of the Union Hospital Retirees, and was a 1945 graduate of Pennsboro High School. She will be remembered as a loving mom, "granny" and great grandma and her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She enjoyed spending many years at their cabin in the hills of Ritchie County, West Virginia. She was a wonderful cook and baker and everything she baked included extra sugar and lots of love.

She will be sadly missed by her family, including her high school sweetheart Harry whom she married nearly 70 years ago on July 10, 1945. Two children, Randall (Chris) West of Port Washington and Suzanne (Bob) Black of Strasburg; four grandchildren, Troy (Renee) West of Dover, Tiffany West of Providence, Rhode Island, Zachary (Faith) Black of Navarre, and Abbey (Sam) Hutchison of Strasburg; six great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Brock West, Carter Black, Danny Gardner, and Cole and Caden Hutchison. In addition, she is survived by a sister in law, Lucy Cottrill and many nieces and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by three brothers Kenneth Cottrill, R. Wilson (Ellouise) Cottrill, and E. Dale (Joan) Cottrill and a sister, Wanita (Kelso) Cottrill Meadows.

Funeral services celebrating Anne's life will be held Saturday, June 20, 2015 beginning at 10:30am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Steve Gerig officiating. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2pm in the Ellenboro Masonic Cemetery in Ellenboro, W.Va., Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday (today) from 5-7pm.
