Anna Marie Pruni, 50, of Deer Lodge, Tennessee and formerly of Dover died Sunday, September 14, 2014 in her home following a brief illness.
Anna Marie was a retired police officer. She was a former Police Officer of the Year for the North Port, Florida Police Department. She was also an officer for the Pittsburgh, PA and Weirton, W. Va. Police Departments in her career. She became interested in law enforcement at an early age. While residing on McKinley Ave. in Dover, she loved nothing more than reclining on the couch with a snack watching episodes of Charlie's Angels. She was the first female baseball player in the Dover Little League. Following retirement, she enjoyed her log cabin home that overlooked the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee.
Born Nov. 2, 1963 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Steve and Adeline "Lee" (Battista) Pruni.
She received her Associates degree in criminal justice from Kent State University.
Anna Marie is survived by three brothers and a sister; Dr. Stephen (Shelagh) Pruni of Dover, Marianne (Jon) Gross of Bath, Ohio, Larry (Barb) Pruni and David (Michelle) Pruni both of Dover; a godson, Dillon Cervi of New Cumberland, West Virginia; six nieces and nephews, Stephen, Anthony, Micheil, Adele, Joseph and Lauren Pruni and step-niece, Jenna. She was also a great friend to many and was especially close to her cousins, Ben and Mary Jo (Marino) Johnston and their children, William and Anthony of Knoxville, Tennessee.
A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2014 beginning at 10:30am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating.(Those attending the mass should go directly to the church). Interment will follow in the Dover Burial Park. A reception will be held in the St. Joseph Family Life Center. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover on Tuesday from 5-7pm.
