Anna V. Viola, 89, of Dover, and a former resident of both Magnolia and
Strasburg, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006, in Union Hospital, after a brief
illness.
Born Apr. 18, 1917, in Liverpool, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the
late Curtis Edward and Myrtle Streets Doan. Anna moved at a young age
with her family to Ohio, where she attended school. She worked as a crane
operator for the Republic Steel Co, in Canton during World War II. She
was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
When she lived in Magnolia, Anna attended the Canton South Nazarene
Church. She was a member of the A.A.R.P. Additionally, she enjoyed
reading and working word puzzles.
Survivors include a son, Arthur (Mary Jane) Viola, Jr. of New
Philadelphia; a daughter, Roberta M. Hammersly of West Lafayette; nine
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Bertie Majeski of
Richmond, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband,
Arthur Viola, Sr., in 1988; an infant son; a great-grandson; two sisters,
Alice Meier and Frances Mitchell; and two brothers, Bill and Raymond Doan.
A memorial service will be held Monday, May 15, at 7 p.m., in the Dover
Bible Church, 4173 Minard Rd. N.W., Dover, with Rev. Ed Scaglione
officiating. Anna's cremated body will be buried alongside her husband in
Yorkville Cemetery, Yorkville, Ohio. To sign an online register and share
