Anne J. Megert, 88, of Baltic Country Manor, and formerly of Strasburg, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003.
Born Dec. 27, 1914, in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late Ivan “John” Yurcic, and the late Kata Yurcic Bankovich. Anne moved with her family at a young age to Canton, where she attended school, and was employed by Berger Aircraft during World War II. She married Robert C. Megert in 1948, and the couple moved to Strasburg.
Anne was a waitress and a cook for several restaurants in Stark and Tuscarawas Counties.
She was a member of the former St. Aloysius Church, Strasburg, and its PCCW. She was also a housekeeper at the church�(TM)s rectory. Anne was presently a member of Holy Trinity Church, Bolivar. Additionally, she was a former Cub Scout leader.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary J. Davis of Clayton, and Diane (Gary) Zimmerman of Sugarcreek; two sons, Richard N. (Sally) Yurich of The Villages, FL, and Donald J. (Donna) Megert, Elkins, WV; six grandchildren, Stacy Yurich of San Diego, CA, Rick Yurich of Columbus, Troy (Gemma) Zimmerman of Granville, Aimee (Jim) King of Brookville, Mark and Eric Megert of Elkins; six great-grandchildren; four half-sisters, Mary Noonan of Arcadia, CA, Katie Tannehill of Pittsburgh, PA, Dorothy Weaver of Peoria, AZ, and Rosie Skalka of Brooksville, FL; one half-brother, Ignatz “Bill” Bankovich, Jr. of Beaver, PA; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1953; a daughter, Carol Ann Megert; two brothers, Joe and Steve Yurcic; and a half-brother Lawrence Bankovich.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at 10:30 a.m.,
in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Strasburg, with Fr. Michael Nimocks officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, 6 �" 8 p.m., in the funeral home.
