Annetta M. Hughes

Annetta M. Hughes, 91, of Newcomerstown passed away on Monday, October 31, 2011 at Union Hospital following a brief illness.

Born on August 24, 1920, in Akron, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Frank and Besse Haun Singleton. Annetta graduated from North High School in Akron.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond W. Hughes; second husband and companion, Tom Jenkins; and her son; David Hughes.

Annetta was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed playing bingo and shared her friendship with the residents and staff at Riverside Manor in Newcomerstown. She also loved sending greeting cards and writing letters to her family and friends. For years she looked forward to her annual trip to Florida to avoid the Ohio weather. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW.

She leaves behind four sons; JT (Sandra) Miller of Alabama, Frank (Marilyn) Hughes of New York State, Craig (Chris) Hughes of Newcomerstown, Clifford (Brenda) Hughes of Pennsylvania; along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In honoring Annetta's Wishes, cremation will take place through the care of Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. A memorial service will be held at Parkside Church Green Campus, 4520 Arlington Rd, Green, Ohio 44685 on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Adam Romans officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served at the church for family and friends.
