Ardath L. Porter

Ardath L. Porter, 73, of Strasburg died Monday, October 14, 2013 in the Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a year-long battle with cancer.



Born March 26, 1940 in Dover she was a daughter of the late Lester "Andy" and Vesta Hupp Anderson. Ardath was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. "Smiley" Porter Sr. on August 1, 2003; brother, Donald Anderson and sister, Leslie Ann Kellner.



Ardath enjoyed being outdoors, working in her garden or taking fishing trips to Canada. She also liked reading and crocheting, but most importantly she loved spending time with her grandchildren.



A wonderful, loving and caring mother and grandmother, Ardath will be sadly missed by her children, Donald L. Porter Jr. and fianc Dawn Seabolt and Becky (Greg) Seward both of Strasburg; brother, Keith (Bonnie) Anderson of Sugarcreek; sister, Sandra Swinhart of Dundee; grandchildren, Clarence and Donald "DJ" Seward.



Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 18 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor James Baker officiating. Following the service a funeral luncheon will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 pm.
