Audrey F. (Bahmer) Kilchenman, 89, of the Hennis Care Center in Bolivar and a former Dover resident died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014 in the center following an extended illness.
Audrey was born Oct. 27, 1924 in Bakersville, Ohio and the daughter of the late Michael and Erma (Schumacher) Bahmer.
She was a former secretary at St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover. She was previously assistant to the General Manager of Trumpet In The Land. She had formerly worked in advertising for the Timken Roller Bearing Plant and always felt privileged to interview Helen Keller while working there. Many years ago, she worked for the former Weaver Truck & Trailer in Dover.
Audrey was a published author and freelance writer. She was the 1942 Valedictorian at Stone Creek High School. Following high school, she attended Canton Actual Business College. She was a longtime member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover and served as publicity chairman for the Dover High School Marching Tornadoes when the appeared in the Macy's Day parade.
She will be sadly missed by her family including her husband, Ralph with whom she would have celebrated 68 years of marriage on April 21; four children Ronald (Beth) Kilchenman of Wadsworth, James (Leslie) Kilchenman of Sanibel Island, Florida, Victoria Lynn (Tom) Powell of North Canton and Debi (Ron) Reed of Canton; three grandchildren, Brian and Eric Powell and Jacob Reed and one sister, Wilma Hawk of Newcomerstown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Maxine Helmrich, Hazel Swihart and Florence Smith.
Pastor Thomas Dunkle will officiate private services for her family on Friday, Jan. 24, 2013 at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover and will be laid to rest in the Dover Burial Park.
