Audrey Fruchey, 90, a lifelong Dover resident, died Wednesday, August 24, 2005, in the Hennis Care Centre Assisted Living wing, following an extended illness.
During her many years at Hennis, she received loving, nurturing care from all the staff that knew her.
Audrey graduated in 1933 from Dover High School and went on to further her education at Kent State University where she earned her degree in Elementary Education. She retired from the Dover school system where she educated and taught students for 39 years. Many of those years were spent at Dover Avenue School. Her past students long remember her commitment to teaching math skills, as well as the other subjects she taught.
Audrey and her husband, the late William “Emery” Fruchey, were well known for their talent in ceramics. They offered classes for many years. Audrey was also respected and admired for her talents in creating many beautiful porcelain pieces and paintings.
She was born December 1, 1914, the daughter of the late Harry B. & Christine Muelhoffer Helmrich.
Survivors include: a nephew, William (Verla) Warther of South Carolina; two nieces, Barb Linard of New Philadelphia, and Sandra (Gary) Vaughn of Strasburg; a loving nephew of Emery�(TM)s who often visited, Rod (Kathy) Fruchey, of Dover; several great nieces and great nephews; and special friends, George & Joyce Klamut of Dover as well as her extended family at Hennis Care Centre.
In addition to her parents and husband, Audrey was preceded in death by a sister, Harriet Warther.
In celebration of her life, a public graveside service will be held Friday, August 26 at 10:00 a.m. in Dover�(TM)s Maple Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Leland Eiler & Rev. Dr. William Haggis will officiate.
