Barry L. Anslow Sr., 70, of Strasburg passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Aultman Hospital.
Born on November 28, 1950 in Dover he was a son of Evelyn Swihart Anslow of Dover and the late Rev. Larry Anslow. In addition to his father, Barry was also preceded in death by his step-daughter, Tammy Bennett Rue and a sister.
Barry was employed at Dover High Performance Plastics for many years, and was the owner of Barry’s in Strasburg, which was known for their famous Tiger Burger. Barry loved the bar business, he was truly a people person, who sincerely enjoyed interacting with his many patrons who would later become friends. The saying, “he never met a stranger” definitely would apply to him. Always one to lend a helping hand, he became an “honorary” member of the Strasburg Fire Department for his willingness to volunteer his time and talents. When he wasn’t working, Barry could be found cutting grass for anyone in need, he really had a passion for riding his tractor; he also enjoyed playing a round of golf with his family and friends.
Barry is survived by his wife, Barbara Yost Anslow whom he married on October 5, 1991; children, Barry (Jessica Hunt) Anslow Jr., Angie (Eric Wood) Kochur, Adam Anslow all of New Philadlephia, Paul (Lisa) Bennett of Malvern; brothers, Larry Anslow of Bealsville, Gary (Patty) Anslow of Virginia, Kevin Anslow of Dover; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, especially, John Warehime. Barry had a zest for life, and a great sense of humor, he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Private family services will be held with a public celebration of life to be announced at a later date. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
