Bertha A. ''Bertie'' Geiser

Faithful Christian, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother Bertha A. “Bertie” Geiser, 97, formerly of 5th Street, Dover, died peacefully Wednesday, February 12, 2003 in the Park Village Health Care Center.

She retired as bookkeeper of the former Geiser & Kappeler Woodworking Shop, the family business, at Dover where she had worked for 20 years.

Born September 1, 1905 at Dover, she was the daughter of the late Fred & Anna Stegmann Pfeiffer.

Bertie was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in New Philadelphia and had been active in its former Christian Women�(TM)s Missionary Fellowship. She had also belonged to the Dover Garden Club, the former Three Arts Club of Dover and the Golden Circle Christian Fellowship.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest C. Geiser, who died on May 27, 1977.

Survivors include: a daughter; Ruth (Gerhard) Schmidt of Dover, two sisters; Florence Carruthers of Parma and Jeanne Ickes of Strasburg, four grandchildren; Dan, Bob, Sally and John, and seven great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bertie was preceded in death by: an infant son, a brother; Robert Kappeler and a sister; Lydia Beiner.

A service celebrating Bertie�(TM)s life will be held Monday, February 17, at 10:30am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Rev. James D. Borton officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall at the First Christian Church in New Philadelphia. Friends may call in the funeral home on Sunday from 1-4pm.
