Betty E. Breehl

June 10, 1922 — July 31, 2009

Betty E. Breehl, 87, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, Jul 31, 2009.

Born, Jun. 10, 1922, in New Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Cecelia Gregory McMillen. Betty married George F. Breehl on Nov. 11, 1940, in St. John's Church, Canton. She was a hard-working, generous and fun-loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, who always put family first. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia, where, years ago, she donated her time and love in working with handicapped children. She was passionate about gardening and yard-work, always striving to beautify her surroundings. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends on her patio.

Betty and George visited all of the fifty United States except Alaska. They also enjoyed vacations to Spain, Mexico and Bermuda. Betty loved shopping trips, be they in Canton or New York City. She will be sadly missed by her dear, supportive best friend, Rita Contini of New Philadelphia, with whom she spent countless hours dining out and, again one of her favorite activities, shopping.

Survivors include a daughter, Dina (Warren) Toland of New Philadelphia: a son, George R. (Kim)
Breehl of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Lori Williams, Leslie (Mike) Keith, George Toland,
Aimee Toland, George (Michelle) Breehl, Jennifer Little, Nicole Widder, Dani, Kristi, and Marci Breehl; great-grandchildren, Ron (Angela) Fisher, Dawnielle, Marcy, and Nate Williams, Mike Keith Jr., Madison and Ryker Breehl, Dustin, Destinee, and Derek
Demattio; great-great-grandchildren, Makaila, Brianna, and Brooklyn Fisher, and Trevor and Tray Breehl; sisters, Grace Bair of Dover, and Peggy Lower of Millersburg; a brother, Robert (Miriam) McMillen of Dover; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George, in 1973; and by six siblings.

A graveside service, open to the public, will be held Monday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m., in Calvary Cemetery, New Philadelphia, with Msgr. George J. Schlegel officiating.
