Betty Ecenbarger

Betty Ecenbarger, 86, of Strasburg died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 in the New Dawn Health Care Center at Dover.

Born October 10, 1921 in Winesburg she was a daughter of the late Christian and Marie Mischler Allenbach. Her husband, Clarence Ecenbarger who died on January 27, 1982 and her daughter Susan Ecenbarger also preceded Betty in death.

Betty was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg where she served the church in many different capacities throughout the years. She was also a member of the Seasoned Seniors, AARP, Tri-County Homemakers and was very active with 4-H. Betty loved living on her farm, taking care of her garden and her pets especially her favorite dog and best friend, Buddy.

Betty will be sadly missed by her sons, John (Connie) Ecenbarger of Strasburg and James (Sue) Ecenbarger of Atwood; brother, Albert (Dorothy) Allenbach of Lima; sisters, Margaret Fowler of Massillon and Marie Bair of Wilmot; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Betty's wishes, cremation has taken place through the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Strasburg. A memorial service celebrating Betty's life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 11:00 am in the St. John United Church of Christ at Strasburg with Rev. Gary Friend officiating. Interment of the ashes will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends can call at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
