Betty J. Amistadi

Betty J. Amistadi, age 93, of Dover, died Sunday, February 22, 2015, in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia.

Born January 14, 1922, at New Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Sam and Lovie (Mann) Penrod. Betty attended Dover High School and, on December 16, 1938, married Raymond Amistadi. The couple reared four sons and shared fifty-four years of marriage prior to Raymond's passing on September 25, 1993. Betty was a loving homemaker who especially enjoyed her grandchildren (including her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandson). She was an excellent cook and in her spare time, did crafts, needlework, crocheting and worked puzzles. Betty was a member of the T.O.P.S. and Town and Country Homemakers Clubs.

Survivors include her three sons, Wayne (Thelma), Wilbur (Pearl) and Carl (Cindy) Amistadi, all of Dover; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Amistadi, also of Dover; her nine grandchildren; her nine great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandson; her sister, Donna Bridgeman, of Dover; and her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Raymond, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Raymond Amistadi Jr.; her sister; and her three brothers.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover on Wednesday, February 25, 10 11 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11, officiated by Pastor Max Canfield of the First Church of the Brethren at New Philadelphia.
