Betty J. Gibbs

Betty J. Gibbs, 81, of Dover died Saturday, December 2, 2006 at Union Hospital.

Born July 10, 1925 in Stone Creek she was a daughter of the late Frank and Clara Fellman Kugler.

Betty was and outstanding homemaker while her children were at home, and after they graduated she embarked on her own academic achievement by graduating in 1970 from the Aultman School of Licensed Practical Nurses. She then spent the next 17 years as a Respiratory Therapist at Aultman Hospital.

Betty was a 55-year member of Grace Lutheran Church in Dover having been involved as a Sunday school teacher, and also a member of the Gallery Choir, Bible Study group, grief support group and the Elderberries. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, traveling, camping with the Tusco Traveleers and playing cards with her friends. She was also a 1943 graduate of Stone Creek High School.

Along with her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by her husband, LaRue V. Gibbs who died on April 24, 1992; two daughters, Betty Jayne and Deborah Lynn Gibbs and a brother, William Joseph Kugler.

She is survived by a son, Frank (Shari) Gibbs of Canyon Country, California; daughter, Marty (Bucky) Geer of Cordova, Tennessee; brother, Richard (Doris) Kugler of New Philadelphia; sister in law, Patsy Allison of Dover; six grandchildren, Reese (Jennifer) Levengood, Andrew (Lauren) Levengood, Meg Geer, Trina (David) Ridenhour, Jacky (Gary) Bennett and Devon Gibbs; two great grandsons, Colton Bennett and Tanner Ridenhour; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at 11:00 am in the Grace Lutheran Church at Dover with Pastor Jim Lewis officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
