Betty L. Browning

Betty Lou (Henney) Browning died on Thursday, January 31, 2008, just one day shy of her 78th birthday. She is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Edward Browning; four children, Ann Browning Shaw, Eric (Christy) Browning, David

Browning, and Jon (Pam) Browning; nine grandchildren, George Shaw, Lisa Shaw,

Andy (Kari) Browning, Becky Browning, Meredith (Andy) Diamond, Alex Browning, Joshua (Amber) Browning, David Browning, and Spencer Browning; and her great-grandson, Skyler Browning. Betty is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Ethel (Egler) Henney, and her brother, David Henney.



Betty was a dedicated schoolteacher who began teaching in the Sugarcreek, Ohio schools when she was only eighteen years old. She then taught kindergarten in the Columbus Public Schools, where she retired after forty-two years. Betty was also proud of the time she spent working at the Fairview Dairy on State Route 21 in New Philadelphia.



Betty's family would like to thank Dr. John Byrd, of The Ohio State University Medical Center, for the care and kindness he provided to Betty.



In lieu of flowers, Betty's family suggests that contributions be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202.



On Saturday, February 2, Betty's family will receive friends at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, 803 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, from 6-8 p.m., and on Sunday, Feb. 3, 1-2 p.m. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Immediately following the service, there will be a reception in the family Life Center of St. Joseph Church, 614 N. Tuscarawas Ave., Dover.



Interment will be on Monday, February 4, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
