Betty L. Douglass

Betty L. Douglass, 59 of New Philadelphia died Friday, February 22, 2002 in Doctor's Hospital at Massillon.

She enjoyed her work with Kennedy Insurance of New Philadelphia where she was employed as a licensed agent in addition to helping with daily operations in the office.

Born January 4, 1943 at Dover, she was daughter of Katherine Reardon Simmers of Dover.

Betty was a 1961 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in New Philadelphia. She enjoyed playing cards and attending card parties, loved sewing, painting and making crafts and was a member of the Betty Club.

She had been active with 4-H serving as an advisor for more than 20 years, and was also active with the Humane Society and the Cats & Us shelter.

More than any of the other activities that kept her busy, she mostly enjoyed being with family and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, Betty is survived by: two children; Kimberly & Del Keffer of New Phila., and Marcella ''Marci'' & Rusty Galbraith of Uhrichsville, four grandchildren; Ashley, Briana, Daniel & Tori, five brothers and sisters; Katherine McEaneney of Dover, Emma Simmers of Dover, Ronald & Cenie Simmers of Canton, Donald Simmers of New Phila., and Grace & Chuck Long of Strasburg, and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by a daughter, Lonni, and brother-in-law, Chuck McEaneney.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 28, at 10:30am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Rev. Terry Kidd officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery at Uhrichsville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm
