Betty L. Holmes

Betty Holmes, 80, of New Philadelphia died on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Union Hospital in Dover.

Born December 26, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Verna (Kilpatrick) Roberts.

In 1947, she married Donald "Dutch" Rennicker, who preceded her in death on June 19, 1987. She later married Richard "Dick" Holmes in 1992, who preceded her in death on February 17, 2007.

Betty was a member of the First Moravian Church in Dover. She worked for many years at Kinser Lanes and Montgomery Wards. Betty's family was very important to her. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Her favorite pastime was baking for her family.

She is survived by; her son, Bob (Melanie) Rennicker of Dover; her daughter, Donna "Sis" (John) Beitzel of New Philadelphia; her two step-sons, Rick (Peg) Holmes of Dover and Bob Holmes of Strasburg; ten grandchildren, Brian Rennicker, Kim (Chip) Anderson, Vicki (Darren) Raber, Megan (Aaron) Shanklin, David Rennicker, Jenn (Steve) Kristoff, Chris Beitzel, Sara Holmes, Kimber and Hannah Holmes; eleven great grandchildren, Chance and Braylon Rennicker, Madison, Peyton, and Maddox Anderson, Jordyn, Brevan, and Blaine Raber, Jacob Shanklin, and Haley and Abby Kristoff; two brothers, Robert (Dorothy) Roberts, Fred (Cindy Dalrymple) Roberts Jr.; three sisters, Shirley (Glenn) Johnson, Marjorie (Denny Hummel) Johnson, and Kay McMath. She is also survived by several special nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by two brothers; Donald Roberts and her infant Brother, Dean Roberts, her sister, Norma Fouts; and a great granddaughter, Justice Apple Rennicker.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held at the Toland Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover on Friday, June 27, 2008 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Allen Bergmann officiating. Interment will take place at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover. Following the service of committal, a meal will be prepared at the Toland Herzig Monarch Center, 831 Boulevard in Dover. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday (Today) June 26, 2008 from 7:00-9:00 pm.
