Betty Lee McNickle Snyder, 93, of Warren and formerly of Sugarcreek and New Philadelphia went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 3, 2014.
Born April 14, 1921 in Martins Ferry, Ohio she was a daughter of the late William McNickle and Ella Behanna McNickle Hobbs. Betty was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Daniel Snyder on July 7, 2009; son, Gary Lee Snyder; daughter in law, Cinda K. Snyder; grandson, Blaine D. Snyder and 14 siblings.
Betty graduated as the Valedictorian from Dundee High School in 1940 and later that fall, she married Paul Daniel Snyder on October 13, 1940 in the First Lutheran Church at Strasburg. Betty became the mother of three sons, Paul, Gary and Bill. She graduated from the Tusco Beauty School in 1972 and then opened her own beauty salon in Sugarcreek. Betty enjoyed using her hands and talents to create beautiful things, and in 1974 she opened the Lucky 13 Ceramics Shop in Sugarcreek where she taught ceramic classes on various painting techniques for 17 years. She also loved to quilt and crochet, making gifts for family and friends. Betty was a loving and caring person, who was extremely generous and giving to others. She was a member of the Christian Temple in Uhrichsville and was also a member of the Believer's Church in Warren.
Betty is survived by two sons, Paul "Dan" (Edith) Snyder, Jr., of Warren and William G. "Bill" (Marcia) Snyder of North Canton; daughter in law, Sue Snyder of Alabama; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 8 at 1:30 pm in the Toland-Hezig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Reverends William Carter and Paul Vanatsky officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Garden. Following the burial, there will be a luncheon at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8 pm.
