Betty Louise Linard, 80, of Dover died on Friday, April 29, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton.
Born on October 1, 1935 in Cambridge, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Wilburn T. and Goldie M. (Johnson) Hopkins. She was also preceded in death by two children; her infant son, Ernest Eugene Linard and Donald James "DJ" Linard; her brother, Wilburn "Hoppy" Hopkins; and her aunt, Virginia "Lela" Walters.
Betty grew up in Birds Run, Ohio. She attended a one room school in Boden, Ohio for eight years until she moved to Dover, where she attended Dover High School. On May 3, 1952 she married the love of her life, Donald "Don" "Duck" Leroy Linard, who preceded her in death on December 26, 2015.
She loved writing poetry, gardening, canning vegetables, and flowers. She was a very talented seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her children and husband. She made leather tooling including gun scabbards and saddlebags for her horse friends. She also loved woodworking, and was a self-taught artist who enjoyed painting nature pictures; cabins, woods, and streams. She enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and trail riding on her horses.
As a young girl, her first job was an aide at Union Hospital. She worked for Miller Studios, Bobbie Brooks as a final inspector and in the shipping department, Dover Molded Products for 26 years, where she retired when they closed. She later went to work for her daughter, Vicki, at Form-You 3 for 18 years until her health required her to retire.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters; Barbie (Doug) Wills of New Philadelphia, Vicki (Jeff) Evans of New Philadelphia; three grandchildren, Megan Evans of New Philadelphia, Christy (Jimmy) Mulheman of New Philadelphia, Amanda Linard of Wisconsin; along with four great-grandchildren, Penelope, Mila, and Bay Mulheman all of New Philadelphia, and DJ Linard of Wisconsin along with several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Betty's life will take place at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 (Betty and Don's 64th wedding anniversary) at 11:00am with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday, May 2, 2016 from 5-7pm.
