Blanche P. Muckley, age 89, of Strasburg, died Tuesday, February 13, 2018, after a six-month battle with cancer. She was born May 8, 1928, in Glendale, Kentucky, to Reed and Mary Corene (Hatcher) Young. She was married for nearly 57 years to Kenneth D. Muckley, who survives her.
Blanche loved spending time with her family, which also includes daughters Corene (Victor) Hakes of Baltimore, Ohio, and Laura (Allen) White of Youngsville, North Carolina; and sons David (Janet) Muckley of Uniontown, Ohio, and Paul (Laurie) Muckley of Grandville, Michigan. In addition to her children, she is survived by 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; sisters Ellen Curtis of Canton, Edna Muckley of North Canton, and Alma Hartman, of Seattle, Washington; sister-in-law Marjorie Truex, of Bolivar; and several nieces and nephews. Blanche was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers-in-law.
Family and faith were most important to Blanche. Any time she could spend with her immediate or extended family was time well spent. Whether it was the weekly breakfast with whichever relatives could attend, road trips to visit her children and grandchildren, holiday gatherings, or family reunions (many of which she organized), Blanche loved her people—and no event was complete until she produced her camera for a group photo!
She was a long-time member of Dover Bible Church. The bedrock of her life was her faith in Jesus Christ, which she shared over the decades by leading Bible studies, teaching Sunday school, hosting visiting missionaries, and offering daily kindnesses to those around her. Blanche made two visits to the Holy Land with her husband Ken, and to her final weeks of life enjoyed taking daily drives with him. Her gracious and sweet spirit will be missed by her family and many friends.
Private graveside services will be held in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. A Celebration of Life Service is planned for Saturday, March 10th starting at 2:00 pm in the Dover Bible Church with Pastor Mark Britton officiating. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover is handling arrangements. Those wishing to express their fondest memories of Blanche may do so by visiting the online obituaries link on the funeral homes website.
Memorial contributions may be made to Dover Bible Church or Community Hospice.
