Bonnie J. Kandel

Bonnie J. Kandel, 70, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, December 8, 2008, in Peace River Regional Medical Center, Port Charlotte, FL, where she was taken following an apparent heart attack at her home in Port Charlotte.

Born, March 29, 1938, in the Village of Wolf, Tuscarawas County, she was a daughter of Elizabeth P. McCormick Feller of Dover, and the late Judson Feller. Bonnie attended Strasburg High School, and, on March 26, 1957, married Robert D. Kandel in Dover. She was employed by several local manufacturing concerns, retiring from Pacemaker in Newcomerstown.

Bonnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed going fishing with her family on Lake Erie, and traveling. Bonnie crocheted many lovely afghans and doilies over the years, often giving them away to family and friends. In later years, the couple purchased a home in Florida, where Bonnie was fond of walking on the beach. Other favorite pastimes were gardening growing flowers, and baking.

In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband, Robert; two daughters, Barb Bushong of New Philadelphia, and Karen (Jeff) Miller of Lewis Center; three grandchildren, Eve (Daniel) Immel, Nate and Nick Miller; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Isabella Immel; three sisters, Peg Feller of Dover (Columbia), Pat (Mike) Yackey of Strasburg, and Joyce Trussel of Dalton; three brothers, Bobby (Joan) Feller of Carrollton, Gary Feller of Dover (Columbia), and Lonnie (Sherrie) Feller of Alabama; many nieces and nephews; and a special aunt, Martha McCormick of Newcomerstown.

Besides her father, Bonnie was preceded in death by a special uncle, James McCormick (husband of Martha).

A funeral service will be held Friday, December 12, at 1 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with family friend, Pastor Donald Silverthorne officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park.
