Bruce Alan VanFossen II, 35, of Dover, went home to be with the Lord on Monday June 17, 2002 after a sudden illness.
Born August 17, 1966 at Dover, he was son of Bruce Alan & Carol Fotheringham VanFossen I of Carrollton.
A 1984 graduate of Carrollton High School, Bruce was a born again Christian and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church at New Philadelphia. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and working outside with his flowers. He had been a camp counselor at Camp Aldersgate and had also enjoyed coaching youth sports including T-Ball, Little League and Pee-Wee Football. Most of all, Bruce loved spending time with his children and family.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl VanFossen, whom he wed on July 25, 2000.
Other survivors include: children; Leah Nicole, Bruce Alan III, Miriam Joy, Serenity Dawn & Brianna Renee, step-children; Darnell Marquis, LaShante Darese & Monisha Rae, brothers; Willis L. “Bill” VanFossen II and his fiancée Crystal, and Brenton T. & Margaret VanFossen, Maternal grandmother Marie Fotheringham, nieces & nephews; Heather, Shay & Justin, aunts Nancy Payne & Linda Williams, uncles; Ron (Mary) Fotheringham, Eddie Belcher & Terrell Russell, mother-in-law Shirley Russell, sister-in-law Denise Russell & brothers-in-law; Rudolph “Tony” Russell and Vincent Belcher, in addition to many other cousins, aunts and uncles.
Bruce was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Alex Fotheringham, paternal grandparents; Ruth & Irvin Payne & Willis L. VanFossen, uncle Jim Williams, aunt Rosemary Perry, and brother-in-law Shawn Lee Russell.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 22, at 11:00am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Pastor Donald Snow officiating. Interment will be in the St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery at Tuscarawas. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm.
