Bruno Dallas, 89, a life resident of Dover, died peacefully in his home Monday evening, January 7, 2008.
He was born August 22, 1918 at Dover, the son of the late Dominic and Marguerite Parrica DAlesio.
Family was always first with Bruno. He was a great provider, hard worker, and made sure that everyone in his family knew how much he loved them. Through his expressions of love, and support, he made quite an impression on more than just his wife and children as his actions trickled down and made imprints on the hearts of many throughout his extended family as well.
Remembered as Dynamite Dallas to those old enough to remember his days as a popular local prize fighter, Bruno was a big sports fan who enjoyed watching, of course, boxing. He was also a big football fan and closely followed the Browns and Buckeyes.
He was a hard worker, having spent more than 40 years as a welder for the former Massillon Steel Castings Company. In his younger years, he had also been involved in large WPA projects like the construction of Dover Dam.
Bruno served his country honorably as an aviation mechanic in the Navy during World War II.
For 53 years, he was blessed to share his life with the love of his life, Anna Mae (Dayton) Dallas, who died February 20, 1994. The couple had three children who were dearly loved, one of which survives Mrs. Lyn (Karen) Korns of Rome, NY. A son, Richard Dallas, and daughter, Margaret Peggy Kaiser preceded him in death.
Additionally, Bruno is survived by: a sister, Margaret Pace, of Dover; two brothers, Hugo DAlesio of Palm Springs, CA, and Dante Dallas of Clearwater, FL; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Fr. William Arnold will officiate a service that celebrates Brunos life on Thursday, January 10, at 10:30 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral home & Crematory, Dover. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Dover will follow services. Friends may call in the funeral home Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.
Those unable to attend or wishing to share a fond memory may sign the online register book for Bruno by visiting the obituaries link on the funeral homes website.
The family suggests that memorial gifts be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. 3rd St. Dover.
