Bryce R. Pittman, 68, of Dover, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, in Union Hospital.
He was born July 2, 1941 at Fairfield Township, the son of the late Raymond & Esther Ickes Pittman.
Bryce was a machinist by trade, retiring from Smurfit Stone Container in 2003. He kept busy in retirement by working for a stint at WalMart, and more recently serving as a delivery driver for United Sales of Dover.
He was a graduate of Tusky Valley High School who went on to proudly serve his country. While in the Army, he was stationed at Fort Knox, KY. He was a member of the Mineral City American Legion. An avid outdoorsman and member of the B&A Club at Roswell, Bryce enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also loved gardening and playing golf.
On April 7, 1984, Bryce married the love of his life, the former Brenda Sexton, who survives. Tuesday and Saturday nights were nights that the two of them spent having fun and making friends while playing BINGO. The couple also enjoyed traveling and took a special interest in destinations like some of America's most beautiful casinos.
Other surviving family members include: three children, Randy (Cindy) Pittman of Mineral City, Stacy Pittman of New Philadelphia and her companion Robert Cox, and Cory (Richele) Pittman of Dover; a granddaughter who was the apple of Bryce's eye, Kylie Pittman; a brother George (Bonnie) Pittman of Mineral City; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, a sister, Carol Davis, and a brother, Jim Pittman, preceded Bryce in death.
Pastor Louise Worsham will officiate a service that celebrates Bryce's life on Saturday, August 1, at 1:00 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. Immediately following the service, the Dover VFW will provide military honors on the funeral home grounds. The family will then host a meal at the Pine Ridge activity center in Strasburg.
Friends may call in the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 p.m.

The family asks that memorial gifts be made to hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. 3rd St., Dover.
