C. Clayton Heid, 78, of Dundee, died Monday, July 15, 2002 in Union Hospital.
Clayton was retired from U.S. Silica at Dundee where he had worked for 27 years.
Born September 30, 1923 at Dover he was son of the late Charles & Ethel Heid. Additionally, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Albert Laubscher, an infant son Marvin, and an infant brother Charles.
He was a member of the Dundee Church of God, loved being outdoors and fishing with his grandson.
A medic for the Army during World War II, Clayton was a member of the 45th Infantry which included 18 months in the European Theater.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Newton Heid, whom he wed on June 5, 1959.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 18, at 1:00pm in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Pastor Robert Riston officiating. Interment will be in the Dundee Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday (today) from 6-9pm.
